Toyota Tundra Overview The rugged 06 Toyota Tundra Double Cab has a 271-hp i-FORCE V8 with VVT-i, 6800 lb. of towing capacity, and a full-size cargo bed to handle your biggest challenges. Toyota has beefed up its 4.7L V8 engine and is offering a new 4.0-liter V6 on 2005 Tundra pickup trucks. V8 models have a new standard five-speed automatic transmission, and Double Cab models are now available with curtain and seat side airbags. Engine Highlights New 4.0-liter V6 produces 245 horsepower and 282 lb-ft. of torque, about a 30-percent increas over previous models. V8 gains variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i), upping horsepower from 240 to 282. Torque has increased by 10 lb-ft. to 325 lb-ft. Both engines feature a new electronic throttle control system with intelligence (ETCS-i) to help optimize performance and fuel economy. Tundra Manual Transmission A new six-speed manual transmission replaces the five-speed manual in V6 Tundras.
